Hi there! As always, thank you for stopping by another Friday. I hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying your time with a book if you can. I am, although I confess that I go slower than I thought due to the hot temperatures, which seem to have affected my brain a little bit because I read only at times and I get easily tired. Nevertheless, the book is pretty juicy, for it's a biography, so... You'll know more about it in the wrap-up entry next month.
Speaking of books and feeling kinda slow, the other day I revisited my Goodreads to-be-read shelf and realiased that some of the books I have there, well, I do not feel like reading them at least for now.
It does not mean that I will not read them EVER, but some were added so long ago that now I even have my reservations on whether I actually wanted to read them in the first place or it was a result of a whim because I found it interesting at that moment, but I couldn't read it right away.
Even so, I try to keep order and read from that pile as much as I can, but new additions or life gets always in the way. In any case, I have decided to delete those which I added so long ago that I even had to look up what the plot was about. And I ended up deleting only four, which for me it's good, for it means that sometimes, I just go with a wim and do not really think about actually reading those. It's okay, although part of me is actually disappointed. I do not like to waste time, not even when reading, and I got the feeling that even when I chose those I already knew I would never read them.
And also, there is the fun fact that I sometimes read books that I don't mark there, as it's the case of the one I'm reading now and maybe, the case of the next one. Why? Probably because I fear I won't like them and I don't want to expose them publicly. Or just because I don't know if I am ever going to read them, for in the end, I use that list when I don't know what to read and see what's next.
Here it is a link with my whole tbr list for you to see. Have you read any of those? which one would you recommend? What are the ones I am more excited for? Let's see:
Chekov plays.
More exactly, Uncle Vanya. Why? Because Andrew Scott, one of my favourite actors will be performing it from next month up until October (I was going to attend, but the seats are super priced and the accessible seat was cheap, but with a shitty view. If I lived in London, I would not care about that detail and go, but having to spend money on aeroplanes, the hotel, etc, the shitty view was non-negotiable). Hence, my only consolation, as usually happens with him, is to read the play text.
The Murder Of Mr. Wickham - Claudia Grey.
My friend Elena recommended me this mystery novel, in which, hell yeah, that George Wickham is killed at Emma Woodhouse and Mr. Knightley's house party. And the two characters wanting to resolve the murder are Catherine and Henry Tilney's daughter and Elizabeth and Darcy's eldest son. Full on Jane Austen characters. What's not to like?
Meet Me In Another Life - Catriona Silvey.
I have not read much about this one, just enough to feel I want to read it. All I can say is that it seems to be about two people destined to be together no matter what. Call me delusional, but I believe love should feel that way, no matter the obstacles.
1Q84 - Haruki Murakami
This one has been on my radar for years, but it is an idea for a future post what will bring me to read it as soon as I have the mind for it (It is quite long, I believe, for it has all of the three volumes).
Elise - Ken Grimwood.
Sort of related to the post I would like to post here eventually, I discovered this author through another novel which will feature in my future post. Hence why, I looked for more of his works and found this about a woman who lives an apparently normal life but hides the secret of immortality, having lived through different historical periods.
These are only a few of my options. As you can see, my tbr has quite promising titles waiting for my neurons not to be either so busy or sluggish to focus on them.
What about you? What is in your tbr pile? is your brain as lazy as mine this summer? Let's talk in the comments.
See you next Friday! Have a lovely week.
